AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION

.SYNOPSIS...Sunny skies and warm inland temperatures are expected
today and Tuesday. Coastal areas will remain cool and breezy today.
Overnight into Tuesday, winds will start to diminish. Wednesday
Coastal and valley clouds are expected to increase along with cooler
temperatures near the coast. Friday and Saturday warmer temperatures
are expected again.

.DISCUSSION...Northerly winds continue to gust up but will begin to
ease this evening. A wind advisory remains in effect until later
tonight for southern Lake county. Southern Trinity will also have
gusts at ridgetops in the 30-40mph range in isolated areas at
elevations above 1000 feet. Temperatures have increased a few
degrees since yesterdays` highs and this trend will continue into
Tuesday with an additional 3-5 degrees warmer. Wednesday will see
this warming trend cease on the coast as the next upper level low
pulls cloud cover in. Interior ridging will block/hinder the
progress of the pacific low with a broad ridge, as it builds over
the northern-mid western U.S. At this point, this system looks too
dry for any precip over the area. Thursday through Saturday high
pressure builds in and highs are expected to be near 90 in the
warmer valleys once again. Most of the ensemble clusters do show
that the ridge axis will be just east of the west coast and this may
allow marine air and stratus to keep the near coastal areas slightly
cooler, especially on Saturday.

Sunday and into early next week 3 out of 4 ensemble clusters show at
least some rain moving into the area with the next upper level
trough. The 00Z GFS showing significant precip with this trough,
that doesn`t appear to be widely supported in the ensembles. MKK

.AVIATION...VFR conditions expected today. Gusty northerly winds
continue through this afternoon. Some haze is possible along coastal
terminals, yet visibility difference will be minimal and there is no
expected change to flight categories. Winds weaken slightly this
evening with exposed coastal terminals remaining in light breeze
conditions. No stratus is expected tonight into Tuesday due to dry,
offshore flow aloft. HREF data shows a ~70% probability of ceilings
under 1000ft AGL return Tuesday night into wednesday morning. KUKI
to experience calm winds and VFR conditions

.MARINE...Gusty northerly winds will continue in the coastal
waters at least until Tuesday morning as the pressure gradient
gradually weakens. The strongest winds have already begun to pull
back from the coast; however, steep and hazardous seas with small
craft conditions are likely into the middle of the week.

An upper level trough will move away from our area towards inland
western CONUS allowing ridging to fill over the Pac NW this week.
The ridging will allow a thermal trough pattern at the surface
keeping winds elevated, yet below gale force, through the week. Wind
waves will create a sea state that can be hazardous for small crafts
